Rekha was seen in the lead role in the film Umrao Jaan directed by Muzaffar Ali and actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Farooq Sheikh also played important roles.
When this film was being shot, Rekha used to be a superhit actress and this incident is from a romantic scene of the film Umrao Jaan. The shooting of this film was being done in Malihabad and for that romantic scene, a set was set up in a private place. When the people of that place came to know that a romantic scene was being shot in Rekha’s film, there was a huge crowd there.
The crowd became so uncontrollable that the makers had to seek protection from the police and air firing was also done to stop the crowd. Only when the guns were fired did people move away and that scene of the film was shot the next day. The film Umrao Jaan was a superhit film of that year and it is liked a lot even today.
